In view of the fact that the Governor has signed a death warrant for the

execution of BENNIE DEMPS on May 31, 2000, we direct that any further

proceedings in this case be expedited.

We hereby set oral argument for 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2000, to hear

any proceedings that may come before this Court with the simultaneous filing of

documents to be reviewed by this Court to be filed by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15,

2000. A maximum of twenty (20) minutes to the side will be allowed for the

argument.
