Dear Mr. Ciolino:

Reaffirming recent e-mails to your office, and our telephone conversations this week, I would like to confirm the following information:

I have written a book on this case, A Circle of Blood, which includes much documentation of Paul’s innocence. It is self-published, 350 pages.

I have been working (unprofessionally) with Paul Scott since 1979, when an assistant of the Palm Beach County public defender (Joe Wyckoff, now deceased) came to me with the story of this obvious railroading, which he was unable to prevent. It was his suggestion that I, as a songwriter, could write a song to bring attention to Scott’s case, which I did, with the help of Scott and singer Susan Stryker (A Prisoner’s Lament).

In what became a beautiful death row love story, Paul Scott and Susan Stryker fell in love and were married on death row, a love affair that lasted for five storybook years. Susan and I went on the concert circuit where she sang A Prisoner’s Lament with all her heart and soul. I have the cassette master of our recording of this song, and, also, this story is in a screenplay of A Circle of Blood which I have written.

At that time (1980) we were able to hire private attorneys which helped to keep Scott alive the first 15 years on death row. Since then we have relied on CCRC up until a couple of years ago, when St. Nicholas began to help us tremendously. They were instrumental in bringing Florida Catholic Diocese Bishops Ricard and Snyder to meet with Governor Jeb Bush on Scott’s behalf, and in getting the support of University of Notre Dame Law School Prof. Charles Rice.

Additionally, we have gotten the support of attorney and law professor Michael Mello (author of Dead Wrong) at the University of Vermont Law School. If Paul Scott’s life is to be saved, it will be thanks to the incredible support of Father McElduff and his wonderful parishioners at St. Nicholas.

Do you need anything else? Please let me know.
